Check a URL

Paste a URL to inspect its structure without opening it. Then look up the domain’s registration date for another piece of context.

The first check stays in your browser. The separate registration lookup sends only the registered domain to its public registry—not your URL path, password, query, or fragment. The registry also receives normal connection information such as your IP address.

What to look for

Destination

Read the registered domain.

In school.edu.account-check.example, the “school.edu” text is only a subdomain. It does not make this an address owned by school.edu.

Domain age

Recent does not mean malicious.

A new domain deserves context, but legitimate sites also start somewhere. Registration dates can be missing or can reflect a re-registration.

Limitations

“Unknown” is useful information.

Some registries do not offer usable records or block browser access. An unavailable lookup does not mean the domain is unregistered or safe.
